The ceremony kicked off with the solemn national anthem. On behalf of the School, Xiong Lingyun extended a warm welcome to the new students and delivered an opening address covering the university motto, the School’s strengths and the development trends of the accounting industry. He introduced that “Integrity, Intelligence, Diligence and Perseverance” is the precious spiritual wealth of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE). Over its 68-year history, the School’s Accounting and Financial Management programs have been selected as the first batch of national first-class undergraduate majors. It has built a complete talent training system covering bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees, and always puts integrity at the heart of accounting talent cultivation. Meanwhile, he analyzed the transformation of the accounting industry amid the rise of artificial intelligence, illustrated the School’s positioning of cultivating compound accounting talents, and put forward earnest expectations for freshmen on self-conduct, academic pursuit and self-discipline.

Guan Kaolei introduced the School’s majors and teaching management rules, explained the features of different training tracks for Accounting and Financial Management, and clarified academic requirements closely related to students, including course assessment, weighted average grades and degree conferment. He reminded freshmen to develop a proper attitude toward academics and make study plans for their college life as early as possible.

From the perspective of employers, Li Ping analyzed the competence requirements for accounting professionals. She introduced the industry-education experimental class jointly built by the School and BDO, and shared real recruitment cases from the firm. She advised freshmen to consolidate professional knowledge, improve comprehensive qualities and focus on internal capability building.
Pan Jingchen, faculty representative, shared three expectations for the 2026 freshmen. He encouraged students to delve deeply into their majors, lay a solid foundation in accounting and maintain rigorous academic standards; abide by JUFE’s motto of “Integrity, Intelligence, Diligence and Perseverance” and stick to the bottom line of integrity; learn to care for themselves, face difficulties in growth and seek help actively when in trouble. He also stated that all faculty members would keep improving teaching quality, uphold professional ethics, respect students’ diverse growth paces and help freshmen gain achievements in college and find their life directions.
Zheng Xin, alumnus representative, shared insights based on his 19 years of working experience around three keywords: goal, focus and growth. He encouraged freshmen to develop a long-term vision, build the ability to concentrate and dig deep, adapt actively to the AI-driven industrial transformation, keep lifelong learning and continuously strengthen their core competitiveness.
Ling Ziqi, freshman representative, combined reflections from military training and the story of Professor Qiu Zongshun, a distinguished predecessor, to call on all 2026 freshmen to inherit JUFE’s spirit and practice the motto of “Integrity, Intelligence, Diligence and Perseverance” — to establish oneself with integrity, pursue knowledge with intelligence, cultivate self with diligence and advance with perseverance. She urged her peers to cherish youth, study diligently and translate professional expertise into responses to the demands of the times, writing a youthful chapter for the new generation of accounting practitioners.
Wang Qi delivered a concluding speech. She pointed out that Jiangxi Province is the birthplace of red accounting. With a 68-year academic legacy, the School enjoys the reputation of “Cradle of CPAs, Palace for CFOs”. It has developed the “Big Dipper Seven Stars” Party-building education system and the “Red Account Book” league and mass education brand. She offered six messages to freshmen: stay true to your original aspiration and serve the country to be accounting professionals with faith; dive deep into your majors and study diligently to be capable accounting professionals; embrace changes and keep upgrading yourself to be accounting professionals with vision; be inclusive and cooperative to be accounting professionals with breadth of mind; stick to rules and keep safe to be self-disciplined accounting professionals; stay grateful and do good deeds to be accounting professionals with moral grounding.
In the second part of orientation, Xiong Shiqiu, a counselor, gave lectures on campus safety and mental health, covering campus security, anti-fraud protection and freshmen’s psychological adaptation, reminding freshmen to always keep safety in mind. Afterwards, staff from the University Youth League Committee presented the “Spring Sowing Program”, introducing JUFE culture, student organizations, discipline competition systems and the recognition rules for second-class classroom credits, offering all-round guidance for freshmen to adapt to university life and boost comprehensive qualities.
The Opening Ceremony and Orientation Session concluded successfully. The freshmen will uphold the motto “Integrity, Intelligence, Diligence and Perseverance”, carry forward the School spirit of “Love, Gratitude, Integrity and Perseverance”. They will forge ahead in their academic journey, inject youthful energy into the development of the School and national construction, and compose splendid chapters for the era.(Written by Yi Huijun, Hu Ziyi, School of Accounting,Photographed by Jin Enze, Yang Ziyanand Qiu Yuzhen, School of Accounting)
